Open Quote I am sitting at the library while my daughter is taking reading tutoring and decided I should write to prevent other parents from going through the same frustration. My daughter attended Growing Treasures since she was 6 months and it really was the best school until she started 1st grade in a public school this year and then I realized the mistake we had made. Growing Treasures is an excellent day care but NOT more than that. My daughter was Principal's Hornor roll on VPK and also Kindergarten, she never got anything but "A" with them so we were really happy and thought our daughter was doing great in school. It all changed when she started 1st grade at a public school and then to my surprise she started getting "D" and "F" on everything. I met with the teacher to find out what was happening and she advised that my daughter was below level and I since then have been paying tutoring 4 hours every week for the past 5 months but she is not passing her reading class still and and because in first grade she pretty much has to read and answer all her assigments she is getting bad grades on other subjects which by now she is expected to read on her own. I should have listened to one of the teachers at Growing Treasures when she several times advised me to take her somewhere else beginning VPK because kids in that school fall below level but everyone was so sweet and trusty I did not feel comfortable taking her to a big public school and now she is paying the price. Last week whole at Walmart I ran into the grandmother of 2 kids we know from Growing Treasures and she mentioned that her grandson who is currently in 3rd grade at Growing Treasures barely reads yet. Do your kid a favor and take them somewhere else. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
