Summary

Tradition Preparatory High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, serves 956 students in grades 9-12 and is part of the St. Lucie school district, though it is physically located in Broward County—a unique arrangement that sets it apart from nearby schools.

This school stands out for its exceptional graduation rate of 100% for the 2024-2025 school year, far exceeding the state average of 92.2% and matching only Pompano Beach High School among nearby schools. Chronic absenteeism has also dropped dramatically from 39.6% in 2021-2022 to just 16.6% in 2023-2024, which is roughly half the rate of the St. Lucie district (34.4%) and significantly lower than nearby schools like Northeast High School (56.1%) and Blanche Ely High School (46%). Remarkably, the school achieves these outcomes while spending only $8,194 per student—less than most Broward County high schools, which typically spend between $8,573 and $10,628 per student.

However, academic performance is mixed. While Tradition Preparatory excels in U.S. History (78% proficient, above the state average of 74%) and shows strength in Biology (61% proficient), it struggles significantly in Geometry (26% proficient, far below the state average of 56%). This "Geometry gap" is a critical weakness compared to nearby schools like Northeast High School (46% proficient) and Blanche Ely High School (46% proficient). The school's overall state ranking has fluctuated, ranging from the 56th percentile (3 stars) in 2022-2023 to the 46th percentile (2 stars) currently. Despite this, its perfect graduation rate and low absenteeism make it a compelling option for families prioritizing student engagement and on-time graduation, especially when compared to struggling nearby schools like Sunfire High School (15.2% graduation rate) or Dave Thomas Education Center West (43.2% graduation rate).

Open Quote Unprofessional teaching staff and principal. Student discipline is not consistent and the lack of accountability goes from the top down. Teachers are burnt out and fear for their jobs. The facility is excellent yet students behave as middle schoolers even though they are in high school. Students cheat constantly by googling answers during and after class. They have a hard time getting students to put their phones away and keep them away. ipads for each student reinforces cheating online and the atmosphere is chaotic. Very sad and disappointing.
