Open Quote If your child has Autism (High Functioning), this is not the school for him. My son attended Wilson for three years. My son fell through the cracks and this school failed him. I thought I was a patient parent with the hopes that the following years would be different. But no luck.
I was very disappointed with the administration and their inability to properly assist kids with special needs. Sometimes my son was being seen and other times not. They didn't collect data about his progress. When you try to get assertive with the school, they bombard you with excuses of all the things the school was going through and other students were more important than my son's education.. As a parent, I've volunteered, gave countless amount of money to all their fundraising and abide by all their strict rules and regulations and still my son didn't get any support and still failed. He was being overlooked and pushed to the back burner. They strictly teach to the test and do not implement accommodations or be creative with their teachings in order for there students to catch up. At the end of the year, they asked to update his IEP with a document that I had to come in and sign, instead of a meeting at the school, which by the way is how IEP meetings usually work. About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
