Stambaugh Middle has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Florida middle schools over the past several years.

The school faces significant challenges, with high chronic absenteeism rates ranging from 30.9% to 49.4% over the past few years, well above the state average. Its test scores are also consistently below state and district averages across various subjects and grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates were 45% in 6th grade ELA, 37% in 7th grade ELA, and 20% in 8th grade math, compared to state averages of 60%, 57%, and 57%, respectively. Additionally, Jere L. When comparing Jere L. Stambaugh Middle to nearby schools, it becomes clear that the school is underperforming compared to its peers. For example, Daniel Jenkins Academy Of Technology Middle School and Lawton Chiles Middle Academy, both public magnet schools in the same district, have significantly higher test scores and lower chronic absenteeism rates. This suggests that the traditional public school model may not be effectively meeting the needs of the student population at Jere L. Stambaugh Middle, and the school and district may need to explore innovative approaches to improve outcomes.

Open Quote I think The ESE Teachers and Paras are excellent. My son looks towards to going to school. We appreciate the two teachers and his two Paras. He tells us how awesome they are. They are so kind and seemed to care about what they do. So thank you Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter and another female student both disabled were verbally, sexually and physically assaulted at the bus stop which i reported but nothing happened. The school told my daughter they can't do anything because it happened at the bus stop which is a lie. Nobody is protecting their most vulnerable students the predator is still riding the bus walking free without consequences. All they did was teach a future rapist about loopholes and teach 2 disabled girls that they're easy targets and nobody will protect them. Close Quote
