Summary

Palm Beach Virtual Franchise is a small, K-12 virtual public school in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, serving just 78 students under the Palm Beach school district.

This school stands out for its exceptional academic results, which rival those of elite private schools. In the 2025-2026 school year, 100% of 9th and 10th graders were proficient in English Language Arts, and 90% were proficient in Biology 1. These scores far exceed nearby alternative schools; for example, Indian Ridge School had only 40% proficiency in 9th grade ELA, and Riverbend Academy had just 15%. Palm Beach Virtual Franchise also boasts a perfect 100% graduation rate for five consecutive years and a near-zero chronic absenteeism rate, a stark contrast to schools like Bodwell Academy, which has a 70.8% chronic absenteeism rate. The school achieves these outcomes with a low student-to-teacher ratio of 7.8:1 and relatively modest per-student spending of $13,387, compared to Indian Ridge School which spends $130,279 per student.

Interestingly, Palm Beach Virtual Franchise shares an address with the Palm Beach Virtual Instruction Program, yet their outcomes are dramatically different—the latter has an 8% graduation rate. This suggests that Palm Beach Virtual Franchise serves a highly motivated student population, with only 17.95% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. While its success is remarkable, it is tied to a specific educational model and demographic, making it a powerful example of how virtual learning can thrive when matched with the right students and support systems.

Open Quote Since Covid, my children have been attending virtual school. This is not an educational format we had ever considered prior to the pandemic. However, we found that they have excelled in both their academics and discipline. In terms of their academics, they developed a deeper sense of understanding of the subject matters, as well as had more options of classes to take as electives. For instance, despite taking Spanish in her private brick & mortar school, my oldest is also taking French, in addition to her Spanish class. She is also taking photography and a host of other courses not available in her former private school. In addition, my girls have developed a sense of discipline and are now in charge of and controlling their own schedule. This has allowed them to move faster in some courses but also slow the pace of their learning for more challenging classes. Now that my oldest has completed middle school, we want her to return to a brick & mortar for high school. However, she prefers staying virtual. Despite our wish that she return to a traditional school to experience the social aspects of high school, we are conflicted. Conflicted because she has earned straight A's since becoming virtual, has gone beyond the traditional courses that would have been required for an 8th grader and has access to an excellent curriculum and teachers. It's getting harder to argue with her because of her excellent performance with PB Virtual. I would highly recommend this option. Close Quote
