Summary

Thornebrooke Elementary in Ocoee, FL, is a high-performing public school serving 561 students from Pre-K through 5th grade, and it consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, currently placing in the 90th percentile.

Thornebrooke stands out for its exceptional academic performance across all subjects and grades. In the most recent school year, proficiency rates ranged from 73% to 89% in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, all significantly exceeding both the Orange district and Florida state averages. A particularly impressive metric is 5th-grade Science, where 89% of students were proficient—29 percentage points higher than the state average. The school also boasts a remarkably low chronic absenteeism rate of just 16.5%, which is less than half the district rate of 35.2% and far better than nearby schools like Metrowest Elementary (33.5%) and Westpointe Elementary (30.3%). This indicates a highly engaged student body and strong family involvement. While it faces stiff competition from elite neighbors like Windermere Elementary (98th percentile) and Lake Whitney Elementary (96th percentile), Thornebrooke dramatically outperforms other nearby schools such as Ocoee Elementary (24th percentile) and Metrowest Elementary (18th percentile).

Thornebrooke benefits from a favorable student-teacher ratio of 14.7:1 and higher-than-average per-student spending of $14,210, which is the highest among all nearby schools and suggests strong community and administrative support. While its state ranking has seen a slight, gradual decline from a peak in the 96th percentile a few years ago, the school remains a pillar of academic success in its community. Its rapid post-pandemic recovery in attendance and consistently balanced excellence across all subjects make it a top choice for families seeking a stable, high-quality education in the Ocoee area.

Open Quote We only attended one year before moving to Colorado, but we loved this school. My son has autism, and they were fantastic with him. Mrs. Billig was especially wonderful. He spent some time with her, some time in a regular classroom. The regular teacher was fine with his autism, but was a so-so teacher in general. The registrar's attitude leaves something to be desired, but on the whole, I felt my kids got a decent education here. Close Quote
