Open Quote Since 2017, the administration has improved the school's learning environment. Close Quote

Open Quote The high school has dedicated teacher with low turn over. My son is currently a Senior and it wasn't until 2018 school year that things began to improve when administration was changed. Students are respected and teachers are able to get to know their students and make sure the electives suit their needs. If a student is struggling, the teachers are more than willing to stay after school for tutoring sessions and offer intervention until the skill is mastered. The administration promptly responds to email, will call to clarify any questions or address concerns. My youngest son isn't old enough to attend the high school but when he is, this is definitely the place for him. The school offers a wide variety of programs to meet all academic needs from intervention classes to Cambridge and Gifted. The start/stop time of the school is a plus as this allows students to go to work at a decent hour or attend after school events on time. I highly recommend Gateway Charter High School! Close Quote

Open Quote This is a very poor educational facility. If you are looking for adult day care look no further. The administration is pathetic. Do not expect a graduate to attend college, this is pass the time daycare at best. If you want to encourage poor behavior in your child this is the place. Close Quote

Open Quote Despite the administrations incompetance, especially the principal, I see 3 major issues on the horizon; 1. These charter schools, CSUSA, numbered in the hundreds, now there are only 11 in FL. One already closed in Lee county this year. When this happens, teachers don't receive their last paychecks and students are out of luck.Get ready! 2. This school is up for reacredidation, I don't see this happening due to Admin, labs, literacy, curriculum, etc. This means these kids attendance soesn't count.Or it only counts for attendance. 3. This school has grown despite the drop in Lee county population due to its lack of discipline policy. GCHS has become the dumping ground for Lee county misfits therefore it has become a D school and has no possibility of educating the children. This school is now where you go if you have been kicked out of all the other Lee county schools. Close Quote

Open Quote Charter schools are exempt from many Federal and State regulations but???...this school has no books, no curriculum, no labs???? The administration bows down to threats from students and parents???...Non qualified teachers?? No discipline!!! This is truly a "D" school, this is an example of privatizing public schools. The only care is that they don't lose money. I would give this school a 0 but 1 is as low as it goes. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The literacy rating at this school demonstrates the lack of education received here. Close Quote

Open Quote This is one of the worst schools in Lee County, from your first impression to your last. The Principal wears his pants down around his knees like a slob. There are serious discipline problems. Their teachers quit every day. One instance this year is 12 weeks into the semester and already 4 math teachers quit the same class and 2 science teachers quit the same class, 2009. They have lost 9 teachers as of Dec. The administration is beyond incompetant and the only reason they are there is to keep the doors open. Students threaten teachers and teachers get fired??? This school is a D school that manipulates the facts. They scored 22% on science and 40% overall making them a D, however, they only allow 33% to take the FCAT, this is a Federal violation and why they were an A school, as of 2009 they are a B and sinking like a rock. The school is 5 years old, originally they got good students, this fell apart quickly. They offer 4 years of science, with no labs, another state violation. Good luck to the kids that go here, they are not getting an education, they are getting babysitten and poorly. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
