Open Quote I don't even know if the administration or faculty communicate clearly between each other, as faculty is terrible at parent communication. The previous school year it took me 4 times of emailing and calling before I finally was able to request a teacher conference. I taught elementary, middle and high school for 10 years and never have I experienced such poor communication and lack of awareness from faculty members. COVID notwithstanding, many of these teachers are not instructing online classes so I do not understand why it's such a challenge to establish open and transparent communication. I am seriously unimpressed with this school. It's no surprise its rating has fallen over the past 3 years, along with average assessment scores. It doesn't seem that BES supports faculty or students & families enough, nor does it seem like the school administration cares to. Sad. Thank goodness my child has fun otherwise and is able to make friends here. Soon we will be moving and will be able to enroll our child in a private school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
