I have 2 students at DA. This school has been amazing towards them. The teachers are beyond superb. They truly want the best for the students and go the extra mile to make it happen. Administration has changed quite a bit the last few years so I cannot speak to the new administrators but we never had an issue with the past ones. The arts area become like family. This school should be changed to a regular school, so we can spread the arts around the county, instead of half-heartedly offering specialized art areas. Fasten your seatbelts folks, because you are about to spend a bunch of money on transportation to required after-school activities. Take my student, for example, her specialization is dance. She goes to school 8 hours a day, then on Tuesdays and Thursdays she spends 4 hours at an actual studio. Recently, she gave a mid-way performance where we had to pay a choreographer to choreograph a solo. Why did we have to pay a choreographer? My daughter isn't confident enough that she knows the proper techniques being graded during her solo. Why doesn't she feel confident, and why is that my problem? The teachers don't give a rubric, so you don't know what they are looking for, some days, instead of dancing, they just "sit around" and have "study hall". Well, you paid a guy what grade did she receive? SHE WONT KNOW UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR. What is the point? How is she supposed to know where to improve?! How is she supposed to GROW? My other daughter does theater. Her teachers saw her rehearse her group play Tuesday during school, but they still made her stay after school on the following Thursday for a mandatory rehearsal? I'm sorry, but if you need her to do something, it should mostly be during school, especially if you have already found time earlier in the week to see everything. What do they DO ALL DAY? I'm sorry, but she has dance (that I pay for, even though its offered at school? I must be nuts.) and if she misses it again, I get fined. What. A. Racket. Close Quote

I love my school so so so so much. I enjoy waking up every morning to learn in a safe positive environment on a beautiful campus. Having half of my classes be art classes is really wonderful. I grow as an artist and a person everyday.I am receiving a quality education and know that most of my teachers care. This is my third year there and look forward to one more. When I graduate, I know I will be fully prepared for college and hopefully a career in art. Close Quote
