Summary

Academir Charter School East At Doral is a K-5 elementary charter school in Doral, FL, serving 463 students and consistently earning a 4-star rating from the Miami-Dade school district, placing it in the 73rd percentile statewide for the 2025-2026 school year.

This school stands out for its strong early math and science performance, but faces a notable challenge in 4th grade. In the 2025-2026 school year, 3rd and 5th graders achieved math proficiency rates of 81% and 82%, respectively—well above district and state averages—while 5th grade science proficiency reached 59%, a significant improvement from 46% two years prior. However, 4th grade math proficiency dropped to 63%, below the district average, and 4th grade English Language Arts (ELA) also dipped to 59%, trailing the district by 5 points. This consistent "4th grade wall" pattern over the last three years suggests a curriculum or instructional gap that parents should ask about. In contrast, nearby Doral Academy North Charter Elementary achieves near-perfect 96% proficiency in both math and ELA for 3rd grade, despite a higher student-teacher ratio and similar socioeconomic diversity.

Academir operates efficiently, with per-student spending of $11,326—significantly lower than nearby schools like Dr. Toni Bilbao Preparatory Academy ($16,673) and John I. Smith K-8 Center ($14,482)—while still achieving a 4-star rating. However, its chronic absenteeism rate of 23.6% is much higher than top-performing peers like Doral Academy (6.9%) and Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School (8.5%). To move from a solid 4-star to a top-tier 5-star school, Academir will need to address the 4th-grade slump and reduce absenteeism, potentially learning from the highly effective instructional model of the Doral Academy network.

Open Quote Do not send your kids here. My 6 year old developed anxiety from the disorganization of the school. She was between teachers all year and fell completely behind with reading because of this. The kids were also bullies and the school did nothing to fix this. At one point I didn’t even know who my kids teacher was. The Vice Principle is just nasty and will not help in any situation. They’ve switched principles twice and the school just opened. They ask for money every week for something new! Don’t let the private school looking uniforms fool you! Stay away if you can! Close Quote
