Summary

Somerset Palms Academy is a public charter elementary school (K-8) in Miami, FL, serving 324 students as part of the Miami-Dade school district, and it stands out for its exceptional academic performance and remarkable efficiency.

This school consistently achieves top-tier results, with proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Math that far exceed both district and state averages—for example, 7th-grade math hit 100% proficiency. It has earned a 5-star rating for the 2025-2026 school year and climbed from the 76th to the 91st percentile in state rankings over recent years. One of its most striking features is an exceptionally low chronic absenteeism rate of 13.2%, less than half the district and state rates, indicating strong student engagement and family involvement. Additionally, the school achieves these outcomes with a per-student spending of just $8,933, significantly lower than nearby high-performing schools like Snapper Creek Elementary ($22,083) and Royal Palm Elementary ($15,135), showcasing a model of cost-effective, high-quality education.

Located in a diverse area, Somerset Palms Academy is part of a micro-cluster of exceptional schools, including the even higher-performing Archimedean Academy just 0.38 miles away. However, it contrasts sharply with Bridgeprep Academy Charter (0.66 miles away), which ranks in the 6th percentile with 38.2% chronic absenteeism and proficiency rates in the teens and twenties. This highlights how school choice in this immediate area can lead to dramatically different outcomes. The school also maintains strong academic rigor through middle school, with minimal decline in scores, and a potential anomaly in free/reduced lunch data suggests a reporting change rather than a shift in student demographics.

Open Quote Great school with fantastic teachers and staff. Their curriculum is challenging, but it is fun and engaging for the students. They are still new, so i'm not sure where the school will rank in the future, but most Somerset schools rank in the top 15. It's super clean with a friendly and welcoming environment. My son was in Kinder last year for reference. Close Quote
