Open Quote I would give this school a zero, and not even one star for how they treated my child, and the pain they caused my whole family. My child is only seven years old, gets good grades, and never gets in trouble with other kids. My child had been at a previous school for more than two years with no problems, and we had to find a new school because we had recently moved. We thought this was the right school. Everything was ok until my child would come home saying some kids scared her, and often times she got tummy pain because she didn’t want to go to school. The school offered to get a counselor to speak to her. I agreed to this, but the same day the counselor speaks to her, I get a phone call from school that the cops had gone to see my child at school. When I arrive, I see three cops and they tell me they have to take my child away to a psychiatric center. The cops tell me it will only take a couple of hours to see a doctor. They leave, and two nurses arrive to tell us my child has to stay overnight, what?? They’re keeping my child away from us overnight?! I couldn’t believe this! I call back the school so that they can do something about the situation. The assistant principal tells me there’s nothing they can do, and the principal nor the counselor never reach out to me. I was really frustrated, and saddened that no one was doing anything. They treated my young child as if she was some type of criminal when she hadn’t done any harm to anyone nor herself! The only thing that calmed me down was how nice the staff was at the center, but this whole time I couldn’t stop worrying about my child being kept away from us. I had two nurses, and two professional doctors tell me how inexperienced the school seemed, and this was not the right way to handle the situation, and I agree! I lost my appetite, and I couldn’t sleep the whole night without my child being under our roof. My child was released the next day, and at Mater Grove they told me they had done the right thing. I thought school counselors were there to help, and not make a situation from bad to worse! Mater Grove caused a lot of pain to my whole family, and I felt really unsafe sending my child back. I wasted no time to find another school. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone because they are very incompetent. Be warned parents about the psychological, and emotional pain this school can cause to you and your child. And not to mention, they can take weeks and months to transfer over their school grades something that most schools do in one day. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
