Summary

Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior High School in Doral, FL, serves 1,288 students in grades 8 through 12 and is part of the Miami-Dade school district, which ranks in the 71st percentile statewide.

This school presents a mixed picture for families. On one hand, it boasts an exceptional graduation rate of 97.4%, well above both the district and state averages. On the other hand, its proficiency rates in core subjects like Algebra 1 (53%) and 9th-grade ELA (62%) fall below district and state benchmarks. This "graduation vs. proficiency" paradox suggests the school is effective at moving students through to graduation, but may struggle to ensure they meet grade-level academic standards. A major red flag is the school's chronic absenteeism rate of 40.9%, which is dramatically higher than the district average of 28.2% and far exceeds top-performing local peers like Doral Academy Charter High School (19.2%) and Jose Marti Mast 6-12 Academy (17.0%). This absenteeism crisis likely contributes to the lower test scores. Interestingly, the school performs better in Biology 1 (72% proficiency) and US History (77% proficiency), where it meets or exceeds state averages.

Families in Doral have access to dramatically different educational outcomes depending on the school they choose. While Ronald Reagan has shown a positive upward trend in its state ranking since a low point in 2020-2021, it remains in the middle of the pack. In contrast, nearby charter schools like Doral Academy Charter High School (ranked 97th percentile) and Downtown Doral Charter Upper School (ranked 91st percentile) achieve 90%+ proficiency in Algebra 1 and ELA, have much lower chronic absenteeism, and boast 100% graduation rates. Notably, Ronald Reagan's per-student spending ($10,588) is in line with or higher than these higher-performing peers, suggesting that academic challenges are not due to a lack of funding, but rather factors like attendance and school culture.

They dont put a lot of determination into teaching their students. Some Cambridge Math teacher do not like to explain the concept, causing my child to nearly fail their Geometry course in Cambridge Geometry. Close Quote
