Summary

Silver Lakes Middle School is a public magnet middle school in North Lauderdale, Florida, serving 744 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Broward County School District, which is ranked 25th out of 67 districts in Florida and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Silver Lakes Middle School outperforms some nearby schools, such as Forest Glen Middle School and Bair Middle School, in certain End-of-Course (EOC) exams, it consistently underperforms the Broward County and Florida state averages in the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) exams and the Statewide Science assessment. The school also faces challenges with high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 30.9% to 33.6% over the past few years, which are significantly higher than the county and state averages.

Another notable factor is the high percentage of students at Silver Lakes Middle School receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 61.42% to 77.24% over the past few years. This suggests the school serves a more economically disadvantaged population, which may impact academic outcomes and require additional resources and support. Despite the relatively high per-student spending at Silver Lakes Middle School, ranging from $10,756 to $11,652, the school's academic performance does not appear to be commensurate with the funding, indicating that factors beyond just funding may be contributing to the school's challenges.

Open Quote This school is okay, but the students need to learn proper edicate. Many are disrespectful, rude, and very disruptive.. The teachers are okay, many are nice though. The bathrooms have gotten a lot since last year. Ms. Lopez, amazing prinicple!! You can tell she really cares about her school, students, staff, ect. Now teachers..I wish they would do a teacher training to maybe help them rephrase their sentences to help the students in their class feel more comfortable.. The school's lunches are disgusting. I really hope that it improves. Michelle Obama ruined it. You can't make cheap food healthy!! They need to give us our fried corn dogs back. They have salad options, you cannot force someone to your healthy lifestyle!! Close Quote

Open Quote I went here for three years and they have been the best three years of my life. Teachers here bend-backwards for their kids to succeed. I've never been to another school like this one. It's amazing. Close Quote
