Middle Schools in Citrus

There are four public middle schools serving grades 6-8 in the Citrus County School District, a lower-performing district in Florida that ranks in the 24th percentile statewide. Lecanto Middle School stands out as the clear top performer, consistently earning a 3-star rating and ranking in the 57th to 63rd percentile, making it the only school in the district to meet or exceed state averages in most core subjects. In contrast, Inverness Middle School and Crystal River Middle School are the most challenged, consistently ranking in the bottom half of the state with 1 or 2 stars and scoring well below district and state averages in nearly every subject.
