Summary

Friendship PCS - Woodridge International Middle is a mid-size public charter school in Northeast Washington, DC serving 223 students in grades 4 through 8. Part of the Friendship PCS network, the school has a strong and stable record, earning 4 stars in 2025-26 and ranking 18th of 67 DC schools (73rd percentile). Over the past decade, it has generally ranked between the 61st and 83rd percentiles, with only one sub-4-star year.

The school's biggest strength is English Language Arts, where 45.8% of students scored proficient in 2025-26 — well above both the Friendship PCS network average of 34.6% and the DC state average of 39.6%. This outperforms nearby District of Columbia Public Schools middle schools like Eliot-Hine Middle School (41.8%), Brookland Middle School (33.5%), and McKinley Middle School (31.6%) by significant margins. Woodridge also achieves exceptional results with historically underserved students: low socioeconomic status students ranked 3rd of 51 schools statewide in 2025-26 and 1st of 64 in 2024-25, African American students ranked 7th of 61 schools in 2025-26, and at-risk students have ranked in the top 4-11 schools in recent years. The school also has a very low student-teacher ratio of 8.7, well below nearby middle schools.

Mathematics is the relative weak spot, with 22.9% proficiency in 2025-26 — above the Friendship PCS network average of 17.9% but below the DC state average of 28.2%. The math gap widens in upper grades, falling to 19.0% by 8th grade. Compared to high-performing nearby charters, Woodridge matches DC Prep PCS - Edgewood Middle School in ELA (45.8% vs. 45.9%) but trails in math (22.9% vs. 34.8%). Washington Latin PCS - Anna Julia Cooper Middle School is the clear standout in both subjects (73.4% ELA, 53.0% math). Still, Woodridge spends its $32,770 per student effectively — Monument Academy PCS spends nearly three times more per student yet posts just 4.6% ELA proficiency. Science (10.34% in 2024-25) is an area to watch, though it's nearly three times the Friendship PCS network average.

Open Quote I'm so pleased with the academic, social, and behavioral environment of this school. Students are engaged and there are many school activities that embrace fun and learning. My son is in the Elem Prek school and is being taught and prepared early in reading and math. As a parent I enjoy PAC, the Parent Action Committee and having a healthy school community of parents and educators. Tier 1 and I know this school will remain a strong hidden treasure.
