Middle Schools in Ridgefield School District

The two middle schools in Ridgefield School District — Scotts Ridge Middle School and East Ridge Middle School — serve a combined 1,037 students in grades 6–8 in a southwestern Connecticut district that ranks 9th out of 153 districts statewide with a 5-star rating.

Both schools are among the strongest in Connecticut, ranking in the top 20 of roughly 258 middle schools in the most recent year: East Ridge placed 12th and Scotts Ridge placed 16th, with each earning 5 stars across the past three years. Their overall academic performance is extremely close — in the latest school year, Scotts Ridge posted an average proficiency of 78.1% across ELA, math, and science, while East Ridge recorded 77.8%, both far above state averages of roughly 51% in ELA and 43% in math. Their grade-level strengths differ noticeably. East Ridge excels in 6th and 7th grade, especially in math, with 7th grade proficiency reaching 82.1% in ELA and 77.8% in math. Scotts Ridge dominates in 8th grade, where 87.5% of students were proficient in both ELA and math and 88.0% were proficient in science.
