East Windsor School District

The East Windsor School District serves approximately 1,018 students from Pre-K through Grade 12 across three schools in this suburban Connecticut community: Broad Brook Elementary School (PK–4, 441 students), East Windsor Middle School (5–8, 318 students), and East Windsor High School (9–12, 259 students). The district overall ranks in the 28th percentile statewide (110th of 153 districts), but individual schools vary meaningfully.

East Windsor Middle School is the district's clear standout, ranking in the 57th percentile with particularly impressive 7th-grade results: 63.6% proficiency in ELA and 60.0% in math, well above state averages of 52.2% and 44.1%. By contrast, Broad Brook Elementary School scores below Connecticut averages across all tested subjects, including 4th-grade math at 41.2% versus 52.1% statewide, and its ranking has fluctuated between the 33rd and 40th percentiles over three years. East Windsor High School has improved its state ranking dramatically — from the 27th percentile in 2021–2022 to the 49th percentile in 2024–2025 — and graduates 91.4% of students, matching the state rate. However, SAT math proficiency remains a concern, with just 19.7% of 11th graders proficient versus 31.3% statewide.

Several patterns emerge across the grade span. Chronic absenteeism rises steadily from 13.9% at the elementary school to 15.0% at the middle school and 18.4% at the high school, with the high school exceeding both district and state averages. Per-student spending also climbs with grade level — from $19,323 at the elementary school to $26,150 at the high school — yet higher spending and more favorable student-teacher ratios (as low as 9.5 at the high school) have not produced proportionally stronger test scores. For parents, the big picture is clear: the middle school is delivering strong academic outcomes, especially for 7th graders, while the elementary and high school levels need focused attention on math and reading instruction to lift overall district performance.
