As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is terrible and I regret ever sending my kids here. My kids felt like they were in a prison with teachers who are miserable and such a negative environment. Don't expect any nurturing or support. The administration basically hires their friends even if they are not qualified. They bully the kids and the parents. Speaking up is not encouraged. Teachers are afraid to speak up and parent feedback is also not welcome. No transparency. Check the school board minutes that are supposed to be open to the public and you will find that there are no clear notes on anything they talk about. I now realize the whole school is corrupt. Their goal is to get kids enrolled for the money, but absolutely no focus on learning or on the wellbeing of the children. It honestly makes me sick. Do your child a favor and look for a better school, any school! Close Quote

Open Quote It is with a heavy heart that I write this review of Woodrow Wilson. I had high hopes when my child started here a few years ago. The elementary school is fine, but the middle school is a nightmare. The teachers are rigid, uncaring robots, esp the women. They can't be bothered to treat the parents with respect, and parents are blown off if they express concern. Do yourself a favor and look for another school. Close Quote

Open Quote A decent back-to-basics charter school on the north side of Jeffco. Much better than the surrounding neighborhood schools. However, they seem to lose a lot of their better and more experienced teachers and then end up replacing them with young, inexperienced teachers. Probably because the better and more experienced teachers can make much more money in regular public schools after 5 years of experience. Or maybe its because the school can pay new teachers less. Regardless, you see the end results in their test scores which jump up and down and have plateaued out. Since the school has multiple classes at each grade level, if you put your kids in, try to get them in the class with the teacher with the most experience.

BTW, that is a summary from three friends with children in the school. One of them absolutely hated a new, young teacher her son got stuck with. They use the Core Knowledge curriculum - a VERY GOOD curriculum - and the teacher was clueless and had very poor classroom control. If you live in the area check Jefferson Academy. For whatever reason their teachers have much more average experience than Wilson and it has been (is?) a Blue Ribbon school while Woodrow has never been one. That was the advice they also gave me. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
