The Vanguard School (Elementary) is a large K-6 school in Colorado Springs, CO, serving 949 students in the Harrison School District No. 2. Once a standout ranking in the 83rd–84th percentile statewide, the school has fallen to the 48th percentile in 2025–2026. In the latest testing year, 38.2% of students were proficient in English Language Arts, 38.9% in Math, and 30.1% in 5th-grade Science. ELA proficiency has dropped by more than 30 percentage points in three years, and science proficiency has fallen by roughly half. Math is now the only subject above the state average and remains well above the district.

Meanwhile, Mountain Vista Community School, a Harrison school Vanguard used to far exceed, has now caught up and slightly surpassed it. Vanguard remains ahead of Otero Elementary School and Stratton Meadows Elementary School, but it has lost its status as a district leader.
