As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote There are a few wonderful teachers in this building, but the rest are mediocre at best. The administration is the worst I have ever seen. The new principal that was brought in a couple years ago has no clue how to run the school. My mother worked at VE for 5 years and my daughter attended school there Kindergarten and First grade. Since they were both there, I volunteered on a very regular basis. It is not our home school, but I liked the idea of my daughter being in a school with someone I could trust. Her Kindergarten teacher was amazing, but by the 4th week of school I knew that she was the only thing I liked about the place. The staff at the front desk changed all the time, and I never saw the same person more than a few times. Not to mention they were incredibly rude. The students in the older grades are almost always loud and out of control, and I never saw their teachers take action. The poor TA's are over worked and under appreciated, but even then, I saw a few who couldn't care less about their jobs. I would have taken my daughter out of that school at the end of her first year, but I wanted so desperately to give it another shot. But her second year was even less impressive. From what I can tell, the principal's entire focus is on numbers and ratings, not about the education of his students or quality of his staff. He allows teachers, who've made zero effort to follow new curriculum, to stay while he gets rid of anyone who had a tough year or rubbed him the wrong way and then lies to their face about it. My mother is the perfect example. This school and its principal really need to get it together. I know for a fact that they are talked about district wide, from inside the district at that, and not for good reasons. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
