Aurora West College Preparatory Academy (AWCPA) is a public school in Aurora, CO, serving 927 students in grades 6-12 as part of Aurora Joint District No. 28, where 94% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch — among the highest poverty concentrations of any similarly sized school in the region. The school's defining characteristic is a stark paradox: it posts some of the lowest academic proficiency rates in the state while simultaneously graduating students at rates above the state average.
