School District No. Re-20 Weldon Valley is a very small, rural Colorado district in Weldona serving about 215 students in just two schools: Weldon Valley Elementary School (grades PK–6, 119 students) and Weldon Valley Junior/Senior High School (grades 7–12, 96 students). The district overall is rated 4 stars (77th percentile), but individual school rankings are more modest, and there are sharp differences between academic strengths and serious challenges across grade spans.

At the elementary level, Weldon Valley Elementary School shows solid English language arts results, with 48% proficiency in 2024–2025, slightly above the state rate of 44.8%, and strong 6th grade ELA. Chronic absenteeism is remarkably low at 12.7% versus 28.4% statewide, and the student-teacher ratio is a favorable 12.5 to 1. However, math proficiency lags the state (29.6% vs. 37.3% in 2025–2026), 5th grade science is well below average, and the school's ranking has slipped from the 64th percentile in 2022–2023 to the 33rd percentile in 2024–2025.
