Summary:
Zip code 95415 has two schools in Anderson Valley Elementary (grades K–6) and Anderson Valley Junior-Senior High (grades 7–12), both in Anderson Valley Unified. In 2025–2026, the schools’ average proficiency was 36% in ELA, 24% in mathematics, and 17% in science, compared with statewide rates of 49%, 38%, and 36%. The most important area-wide concern is science: the two-school average was 19 percentage points below the state, the largest gap among the three subjects.
Neither school leads across every subject: Junior-Senior High had higher all-grades ELA and science results, while Elementary was slightly higher in mathematics. Their ELA results were 43% and 30%, respectively, and science results were 21% and 13%; in math, Elementary reached 26% versus 23% at Junior-Senior High. The strongest same-grade bright spot was Junior-Senior High’s 11th grade, which exceeded the state by 12 points in ELA and 3 points in math. At the other end, Elementary’s 3rd-grade math was 16%, 31 points below the state; Junior-Senior High’s 7th-grade ELA was 20%, 31 points below. Because the schools serve different grade spans, their all-grades figures are not a like-for-like comparison.
Results improved relative to the state in ELA and math, but worsened in science: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the average ELA and math gaps narrowed by 6 and 4 points, while the science gap widened by 10 points. The science drop was concentrated at Elementary, down 13 points; Junior-Senior High was nearly flat, down less than a point. SchoolDigger rankings also rose: Junior-Senior High moved from the 50th to the 65th percentile between 2023–2024 and 2025–2026, while Elementary rose from the 8th to the 23rd. For 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 75% at Elementary and 74% at Junior-Senior High. Reported student-teacher ratios were 19.0 and 12.3, respectively; Junior-Senior High also had a 92% graduation rate, while chronic absenteeism was about 31% at both schools, compared with 18% statewide.
