Summary:
Zip code 95365 has two schools: Planada Elementary, serving grades K–5, and Cesar E. Chavez Middle, serving grades 6–8; there is no high school in the list. In 2025–2026, both schools’ all-grades proficiency results were below state results in ELA, math and science. The clearest overall finding is that Chavez was closer to the state in every subject, while neither school reached the state result in any all-grades subject.
Cesar E. Chavez Middle led the two-school group, with 46% proficient in ELA, 31% in math and 34% in science; Planada Elementary had 36%, 23% and 26%, respectively. Chavez’s advantages were 10 points in ELA and 8 points each in math and science. Chavez was 3 points below the state in ELA, 7 in math and 2 in science, while Planada was 13, 15 and 10 points below. Grade-level results show exceptions to the overall picture: Chavez eighth graders were 4 points above the state in ELA and 1 point above in math. Planada fifth graders were close in ELA, just 1 point below the state, but 28 points below in math.
Results moved in different directions between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026: Planada fell 1 point in ELA, 4 in math and 3 in science, while Chavez rose 1, 6 and 4 points. The area’s average shortfall from the state widened from about 7 to 8 points, largely as state science results rose faster. SchoolDigger lists Planada at the 29th percentile and 1 star, down from the 35th percentile in 2023–2024; Chavez is at the 53rd percentile and 3 stars, the same percentile as in 2023–2024. Both schools report free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025: 91% at Planada and 90% at Chavez. Chavez has a lower student-teacher ratio, 17.4 compared with Planada’s 20.8. The schools serve different grade spans, so their all-grades results are not like-for-like comparisons.
