ZIP code 95340 has 12 K–6 elementary schools, all in the Merced City Elementary District. In 2025–2026, schools averaged 31% proficient in ELA and 22% in math; the 11 schools with reported science results averaged 19%. Every school’s reported all-grade result was below the state rate in every subject: 49% in ELA, 38% in math, and 36% in science. The most important finding is that even the area’s strongest school did not meet the state rate in any subject.

Donn B. Chenoweth Elementary led all-grade results, with 47% in ELA, 37% in math, and 29% in science—about 2, 2, and 7 percentage points below the state, respectively. It led the next-highest school by 3 points in ELA and math and 2 points in science. Results at the lower end vary by subject: Merced City School District Community Day had the lowest ELA result at 17%, while Alicia Reyes Elementary had the lowest math and science results, at 14% and 7%.
