Summary:
Zip code 95131 has seven schools: three elementary schools, three high schools and one alternative school, with grade spans ranging from K–5 to K–12 and grades 6–12. In 2025–2026, the average of reported All Grades proficiency results was 31% in ELA, 25% in math and 30% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. The clearest overall finding is that reported school averages trailed the state in all three subjects, with the largest gap in ELA.
Vinci Park Elementary stands out academically: its reported All Grades results were 66% in ELA, 66% in math and 57% in science—17, 28 and 21 points above state results, respectively. It also led the other elementary schools in every reported grade-level comparison for grades 3–5. At the lower end, Santa Clara County Special Education reported 0% in ELA and 4% in math, while Opportunity Youth Academy had the lowest reported science result, 6%. Outcomes beyond tests also differ: Santa Clara County Community had a 92% graduation rate, above the state’s 88%, while Opportunity Youth Academy’s rate was 34%.
Recent results were mixed. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Brooktree Elementary fell 9 points in ELA, 1 in math and 18 in science; Orchard Elementary improved in all three subjects, and Vinci Park improved in math and science. SchoolDigger rankings also diverged: Vinci rose from the 80th to the 85th percentile, while Brooktree fell from the 68th to the 48th. Among the elementary schools, Vinci’s stronger results came with a student–teacher ratio of 25.1 and 31% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–2025; Brooktree’s figures were 21.5 and 41%, and Orchard’s were 16.4 and 50%. These are descriptive comparisons, not explanations of achievement. Because schools serve different grades and have different settings, All Grades results are a broad guide rather than direct comparisons.
