ZIP code 93933 has two high schools: Marina High (grades 9–12, 721 students) and Learning for Life Charter (grades 7–12, 160 students). In 2024–2025, both schools’ all-grades math proficiency was well below California’s: their average was 14%, compared with 37% statewide, a 24-point shortfall—the clearest shared concern across the area’s schools.
The schools stand out in different subjects. In 2024–2025, Marina High led in ELA, with 59% proficiency versus 31% at Learning for Life Charter, a 28-point difference; Marina was 10 points above the state, while Learning for Life was 18 points below.
