Summary:
ZIP code 92870 has four high schools serving grades 9–12 in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified district: three comprehensive high schools and one continuation high school. The clearest difference is between the three comprehensive schools, whose proficiency results are much closer together, and El Camino Real Continuation High, whose results are far lower.
El Dorado High stands out at the top: in 2025–2026, 77% of students were proficient in ELA, 51% in math, and 54% in science—the highest results in each subject. It led the next-highest school by 10 points in ELA, 3 in math, and 8 in science, and exceeded state results by 27, 13, and 18 points, respectively. At the other end, El Camino Real Continuation High had 7% proficiency in ELA, 0% in math, and 4% in science. Its results were 60, 43, and 40 points below the next-lowest school in those subjects. Completion indicators also differ: El Dorado High graduated 99% of students, compared with 82% at El Camino Real Continuation High.
Recent results show no single trend across the schools: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, all three comprehensive schools’ ELA results fell, while El Dorado High and Esperanza High improved in math and science; Valencia High and El Camino Real Continuation High declined in all three subjects. SchoolDigger ranked El Dorado High in the 89th percentile in 2025–2026, compared with the 78th for Valencia High, the 81st for Esperanza High, and the 2nd for El Camino Real Continuation High. For context, 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 36% at El Dorado High, 45% at Esperanza High, 67% at Valencia High, and 79% at El Camino Real Continuation High; these figures are context, not an explanation of results. Because the continuation school serves a different school context, its results should not be treated as directly equivalent to those of the comprehensive high schools.
