Eight Poway Unified elementary schools in zip code 92129 serve K–5, enrolling 4,049 students in total. Across the schools, average proficiency is 78% in ELA, 77% in math, and 69% in science, compared with California rates of 49%, 38%, and 36%, respectively. Every school is above the state rate in all three subjects, but results vary much more in math and science than in ELA. The most important takeaway is that strong area-wide results do not mean nearby schools perform alike: school-to-school ranges are 13 points in ELA, 24 in math, and 25 in science.
