Schools in ZIP code 92116 include five elementary schools: four serve kindergarten through grade 5, while San Diego Global Vision Academy serves kindergarten through grade 8; it has no 2025–2026 results. Among the four K–5 schools, scores vary widely, but math is the clearest shared strength: the average was 48%, compared with 38% statewide, while the school averages were 50% in English Language Arts (ELA) and 40% in science.

Garfield Elementary stands out in current ELA and math, scoring 60% and 58%—13 and 14 percentage points above the other three schools’ averages. Normal Heights Elementary leads science at 46%, 8 points above the other schools’ average. At the lower end, Franklin Elementary has the lowest ELA and science results, at 40% and 26%; Adams Elementary has the lowest math result, at 39%, though that is still 1 point above the state rate. Context measures do not neatly track results: 2024–2025 student-teacher ratios ranged from 20.7 at Adams to 25.3 at Franklin, while free/reduced lunch eligible shares that school year ranged from 65% at Franklin to 86% at Normal Heights—which led science.
