The five high schools in ZIP code 90001 all serve grades 9–12 in Los Angeles Unified. Four are on the Diego Rivera Learning Complex campus, while University Pathways Public Service Academy is at a separate address. Together they enroll 2,070 students, with school enrollment ranging from 121 to 505. Across the five schools, average proficiency is 47% in ELA, 21% in math and 27% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. The clearest area-wide concern is math: all five schools fall below the state result, and the group average is 17 percentage points lower.

The leading school depends on the subject. Communication and Technical at Diego Rivera Learning Complex leads ELA at 54%, 3 points ahead of Diego Rivera Learning Complex Green Design STEAM Academy at 50%. University Pathways leads math at 36%, 7 points above Communication, and science at 47%, 10 points above Communication. At the other end, Performing Arts Community at Diego Rivera Learning Complex has the lowest ELA result, 36%, and the lowest science result, 14%; Public Service Community at Diego Rivera Learning Complex has the lowest math result, 12%. Recent changes are mixed: the five-school average rose 2 points in ELA and 12 in science from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, but fell 2 points in math. University Pathways improved by 19 points in ELA, 19 in math and 32 in science, while Public Service math fell 30 points. SchoolDigger’s percentile rankings also rose from the 37th to the 61st for Communication and from the 39th to the 69th for University Pathways. University Pathways has the lowest student-teacher ratio, 12.1, compared with 19.1 at Communication, but their differing strengths show that the ratio alone does not describe school results. Four schools report free/reduced lunch eligible shares of 96% to 98% for 2024–2025; Public Service instead reports 64% directly certified for free meals that year, a different measure. Graduation rates are 90% to 95%, above the state’s 88%, while chronic absenteeism is 39% to 52%, far above the state’s 18%.
