Summary

Dingle Elementary is a public K-6 school serving 338 students in Woodland, CA, operating within the Woodland Joint Unified School District, but it faces significant academic challenges with proficiency rates in English (19.5%) and Math (9.5%) that are well below both district and state averages.

The school's performance is notably lower than that of nearby elementary schools, such as Spring Lake Elementary and Zamora Elementary, even when accounting for its higher rate of chronic student absenteeism (28.2%). A relative strength for Dingle is its science instruction, where its proficiency rate is actually slightly above the district average. The school serves a population with significant economic need, and outcomes for students from low-income families and English Language Learners are particularly low compared to other schools.

Despite these persistent challenges, the wide performance gap between Dingle and other schools in the same district, like high-performing Spring Lake Elementary, suggests that improvement is possible. Key areas for focus include reducing chronic absenteeism and examining how resources are used, as some schools with similar student demographics achieve better results. The district-wide disparities highlight the importance of understanding each school's specific context and support needs.

Open Quote The reason I gave given this rating is because I had the chance to share accomindation with these girls and one thing is clear. That is that these girls are a reflection of their school. Many of the girls in our cabin treated my school as second class citizens, and thought highly of themselves. Many inappropriate behaviors were cause because of these girls (e.g. swearing and name calling ) One of my friends was a victim of these incidents where a girl from this school pointed her middle finger at my friend, who was deeply offended. I hope that justice is served, and these girls receive the appropriate pusiment for their actions because this is unappreciated.
I would like to make people aware of this situation because this is something that nobody should be in. Close Quote
