Summary

Sequoia Elementary Charter is a 345-student K–7 school in Lemon Cove, California. In 2025–26, its results were slightly above state and district levels in English language arts and math, and substantially higher in science. The main caution for families is that the overall math result hides a clear weakness in 7th grade: students scored below the state and the nearby schools with reported results.

Science is the school’s strongest subject compared with the Sequoia Union Elementary district and the state: 45% of students were proficient, versus 40% in the district and 36% statewide. In 5th-grade science, Sequoia scored 45%, about 10 points above the state, and outscored reported results at Rocky Hill Elementary and Castle Rock Elementary, among others. ELA and math were also just above state averages: 50% versus 49% in ELA, and 39% versus 38% in math. But 7th-grade math was 30%, 8 points below the state’s 38%, and lower than reported results at Roosevelt Elementary and Three Rivers Elementary. Chronic absenteeism is a bright spot: 7.6%, compared with 9% in the district and 18% statewide.

Results have improved overall, but not evenly. From 2022–23 to 2025–26, ELA proficiency rose 8 points, while math increased just 1 point after a sharp dip; science gained 10 points but fluctuated along the way. SchoolDigger rated Sequoia 3 stars and placed it at the 63rd statewide percentile in 2025–26, up from the 45th percentile in 2023–24; only Three Rivers Elementary and Rocky Hill ranked higher among nearby schools with ranking data.
