Summary

Tassajara Hills Elementary is a highly-regarded K-5 public school with about 506 students in Danville, part of the high-performing San Ramon Valley Unified district, consistently ranking in the top tier of California elementary schools.

The school is distinguished by its remarkable stability and its exceptional support for all students. While nearby schools like Creekside Elementary may have slightly higher test scores, Tassajara Hills achieves outstanding results more efficiently, spending significantly less per student. Its greatest strengths are in supporting special student populations—ranking in the state's top 1% for special education students—and in maintaining an extremely low chronic absenteeism rate of just 5.2%, which is among the best in the district and shows a dramatic post-pandemic improvement.

Academic performance is strong and consistent across grade levels, and the school has maintained its high standing even as the student population has shifted. An interesting finding is that the school performs exceptionally well for male students. Compared to neighbors like Coyote Creek Elementary or Hidden Hills Elementary, Tassajara Hills offers a model of reliable excellence, effective resource use, and a proven commitment to helping every child succeed.

Open Quote As a former parent from this school, our family's experience at this school from the principal, office staff, and other on campus administrators see no need for attention to inequality. Our family was not apart of the majority of cultural dominance that attend this school and the Principal, staff and on campus administrators at this specific school made the segregation and attitude towards us, as parent, and our child very apparent. We attempted to contact the school district regarding several incidences between our child, who is a well mannered and even tempered child, and the staff here who do not believe in a multi cultural education nor tolerance of any non dominance race, but no assistance was provide. Even though there was no socioeconomic segregation between families as we all reside in the same neighborhoods in order to attend this school there was a clear distaste for a family who "did not look like they belong here" as a Tassajara's staff member put it so shockingly. We decided to move our children to Sycamore Elementary down the road and we have only experience a welcoming and compassionate staff and a more culturally sensitive environment and acceptance.
