Summary

Sunset View Elementary is a 408-student school serving kindergarten through grade 4 in San Diego. In 2025–2026, 76% of students were proficient in English language arts and 81% in math, both well above state and district results. The most important finding is that Sunset View led nearby K–4 schools with same-year scores in both subjects.

Its advantage is especially striking in math: Sunset View was 43 percentage points above California and 35 points above San Diego Unified; in ELA, it was 27 points above the state and 22 above the district. Among five nearby K–4 schools with results, its scores topped the group averages of 60% in math and 53% in ELA. Its special-education subgroup percentile rose from 80th in 2024–2025 to 95th in 2025–2026, matching the overall ranking and marking a notable improvement in SchoolDigger’s measure of how well the school serves this group. The 2024–2025 student-teacher ratio was 24.0, above the nearby-school average of 22.5. Sunset View reported 15% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–2025, the lowest among nearby schools reporting that measure for the same year.
