Summary

Silverado Middle serves 673 students in grades 6–8 in Napa, within Napa Valley Unified. Its most important challenge is low achievement across all three tested subjects: in 2025–26, about 30% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA), 18% in math and 19% in science, below both state and district rates in every subject. The gap is especially clear in science, where Silverado had the lowest result among 10 nearby schools.

Compared with nearby schools, Silverado was third-lowest in ELA, sixth-lowest in math and lowest in science; its results were also below nearby-school averages of 40% in ELA, 24% in math and 28% in science. Seventh-grade math is a relative bright spot: 24% were proficient, about 8 points higher than Silverado’s sixth- and eighth-grade results, and above results at five nearby schools. Context includes a comparatively low student-teacher ratio of 18.8 in 2024–25, second-lowest among those schools, and 80% free/reduced lunch eligible that year, the group’s second-highest rate. Chronic absenteeism was 28% in 2025–26, down 9 points since 2022–23 but above the state’s 18%.
