Monte Vista is a K–8 school in Monterey serving 688 students in the Monterey Peninsula Unified district. Its 2025–26 SchoolDigger statewide ranking was 1,791 of 5,804 schools, at the 69th percentile and with 3 stars. The clearest takeaway for families is that Monte Vista’s all-grades proficiency was above both the state and district in every reported subject: 54% in English language arts (ELA), 45% in math, and 44% in science.

Science is Monte Vista’s strongest subject relative to the state and nearby K–8 peers: its proficiency was 8 points above the state and 10 points above the average for Dual Language Academy of the Monterey Peninsula and La Mesa. Monte Vista ranked second of those three schools in each subject. Fourth grade was a standout, with 70% proficient in ELA and 65% in math.
