Summary

Sunrise Elementary serves 1,235 students in grades K–6 in Rancho Cordova, a Sacramento-area community, and is part of Elk Grove Unified. Its clearest strength is academic performance: in 2025–2026, it led nearby schools in English language arts and math, and scored above both the district and California in all three tested subjects.

ELA and math are where Sunrise stands out most. It had 69% proficiency in ELA and 61% in math, compared with nearby-school averages of 36% and 29%, respectively; its results were 15 and 17 percentage points above the district and 20 and 23 points above the state. Science was a relative weak spot, ranking third among nearby schools, but its 45% proficiency was still above the district’s 37%, the state’s 36%, and the nearby-school average of 28%. Third grade was especially strong, with 77% proficiency in ELA and 75% in math. Fifth-grade math was a sharper dip at 45%, though still above the state and district.
