Summary

Fox Elementary serves 420 students in kindergarten through fifth grade in Belmont, in the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary District. Its 2025–2026 proficiency rates were 82% in English language arts, 85% in math and 80% in science. Most important, Fox performed strongly in all three subjects: it was above both its district and the state in each, and ranked second among seven nearby K–5 schools in all three.

Fox’s biggest advantage over the state was in math, where its proficiency rate was 46 points higher; its leads were 44 points in science and 33 in English language arts. English language arts stayed around 82%, while math fell from 89% to 85% and science from 90% to 80%; the state gaps narrowed by 3, 8 and 16 points, respectively. SchoolDigger ranked Fox 93rd of 5,804 schools in 2025–2026, at the 98th percentile with five stars; its overall percentile has remained between 97 and 98 in listed years since 2018–2019. One subgroup ranking shifted more: SchoolDigger’s statewide effectiveness ranking for Multi-racial Students, a measure of how well the school serves that group, moved from the 97th percentile in 2022–2023 to the 70th in 2024–2025, then to the 87th in 2025–2026. Other context: Fox had 25.9 students per teacher in 2024–2025, versus a nearby-school average of 22.1, and 6% of students were reported as free/reduced lunch eligible that year. Only San Carlos Charter Learning Center and Central had lower reported eligibility among nearby schools with the same measure and year.
