Sparrow Academy is a small K–5 school in La Mesa, with 156 students—fewer than any of the 10 nearby schools in this comparison. Its latest available test results, for 2024–2025, were below California’s in English language arts (ELA), math and science. ELA was its strongest subject relative to the state, while math was its weakest: 22% of students were proficient in math, compared with 37% statewide. The most important concern is that Sparrow ranked second-lowest among the 11 schools in all three subjects, with only EJE Elementary Academy Charter scoring lower.
