Summary

Mariana Academy serves 781 students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Apple Valley, in the high-desert area of San Bernardino County, and is part of Apple Valley Unified. In 2025–2026, its all-grades proficiency rates were 22% in English language arts (ELA), 14% in math, and 21% in science. The most important takeaway is that results remain substantially below California’s rates in all three subjects, despite recent improvement.

Chronic absenteeism also improved, from 55% in 2021–2022 to 30% in 2025–2026, though the latest rate remains 12 points above the state. SchoolDigger rates Mariana at the 12th statewide percentile and 1 star, up from the 6th percentile and 0 stars the prior year. Its 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible rate was 84%, and its student-teacher ratio was 25, tied for the second-highest among nearby schools with reported ratios; only Endeavour School of Exploration was higher, at 25.6. SchoolDigger’s subgroup rankings show stronger relative standing for Homeless Students (44th percentile in 2025–2026 versus 12th overall) and a weaker longer-term trajectory for English Language Learner Students, whose ranking fell from the 55th percentile in 2018–2019 to the 22nd in 2023–2024, after reaching the 10th in 2022–2023.
