Summary:
The two schools in Union Hill Elementary serve kindergarten through grade 6, and Union Hill Middle serves grades 7 and 8. In the latest results, both schools were above the state in math and below it in English language arts (ELA) and science. Averaging the two schools equally, math was 40% compared with 38% statewide, while ELA was 42% versus 49% and science 28% versus 36%. Most importantly, math is the clearest strength across these schools, while ELA and especially science are the main areas where their combined results trail the state.
Neither school leads in every subject: Union Hill Elementary was ahead by 6 percentage points in ELA and 4 points in science, while Union Hill Middle led by 1 point in math. Grade-level results show notable highs and lows: elementary grade 3 math was 19 points above the state, and middle-school grade 7 math was also 19 points above. At the lower end, elementary grade 6 ELA was 21 points below its state comparison, the largest shortfall shown; middle-school grade 8 was below the state in all three tested subjects. The schools serve different grade spans, so their all-grades scores are not like-grade comparisons, and the two-school average is not an enrollment-weighted area estimate.
Recent trends differ by school and subject. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, elementary all-grades results rose 2 points in ELA, 2 in math and 7 in science. Middle-school math rose 6 points, but ELA fell 11 points and science fell 12. SchoolDigger’s rankings also declined over the three reported years: the elementary school went from the 60th to the 54th percentile, with a small latest-year rebound, while the middle school fell from the 75th to the 51st percentile and from 4 stars to 3. Both schools had lower chronic absenteeism than the state in 2025–2026: 8% at the elementary school and 10% at the middle school, versus 18% statewide. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible students were 46% at the elementary school and 32% at the middle school; enrollment was 542 and 146, and student-teacher ratios were 20.2:1 and 19.7:1, respectively. These figures describe school context, not what explains test results.
