Summary:
Round Valley Unified has three schools serving kindergarten through grade 12: Round Valley Elementary (K–8), Round Valley High (grades 9–12), and Yolla Bolly Continuation High (grades 10–12). The clearest area-wide concern is that both schools with reported test results were far below state proficiency in 2025–26: their equal-weight average was 9% in ELA, 4% in math, and 5% in science, compared with 49%, 38%, and 36% statewide.
Round Valley Elementary had the higher reported proficiency of the two tested schools in all subjects: 11% in ELA, 8% in math, and 9% in science, versus 8%, 0%, and 0% at Round Valley High. Still, both were well below state results, with gaps of 27–39 percentage points at Elementary and 36–42 points at High. High stands out positively for graduation: 95%, 7 points above the state rate, while its dropout rate was 5%, 3 points below state. Yolla Bolly Continuation High has the most concerning reported attendance and completion figures: chronic absenteeism was 100%, graduation 75%, and dropout 25%. Its test scores were not reported, so it cannot be compared on proficiency.
Results moved in different directions from 2024–25 to 2025–26: Elementary rose 1 point in ELA, 3 in math, and 6 in science, while High fell 13, 5, and 5 points. SchoolDigger’s ranking improved for Elementary, from the 1st to the 4th percentile, but fell for High, from the 17th to the 2nd. In 2024–25, student–teacher ratios were 22.4 at Elementary, 9.9 at High, and 30.4 at Yolla Bolly; free/reduced lunch eligible shares that year were 89%, 89%, and 95%, respectively. These schools serve different grade spans, and Yolla Bolly’s absent test results are not evidence of zero proficiency.
