Summary:
The two schools in Pacheco Union Elementary serve kindergarten through grade 8: Prairie Elementary serves K–3 and enrolls 332 students, while Pacheco Elementary serves grades 4–8 and enrolls 379. The latest results are for 2025–2026. The clearest bright spot is Prairie’s grade 3 performance: it was above state results in both ELA (54% versus 44%) and math (62% versus 47%), while Pacheco’s results vary substantially by grade.
Prairie has higher reported all-grades results than Pacheco in both ELA (54% versus 45%, a 10-point difference) and math (62% versus 27%, a 35-point difference). These figures describe different grade spans, so they are not a like-for-like comparison. Pacheco’s grade-level results show why its overall figures can mask variation: eighth-grade ELA was 16 points above the state, but fifth-grade ELA was 12 points below; in math, grade 4 was 1 point above the state, while grade 6 was 25 points below. Pacheco is the only school with science results, and those also vary by grade: fifth grade was 19 points below the state, while eighth grade was 8 points above.
Results changed differently across schools and subjects from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: ELA rose by about 4 points at each school, but math fell by 3 points at Pacheco and rose by 14 at Prairie. Pacheco’s SchoolDigger ranking is 1,266 of 2,703, at the 53rd percentile with 3 stars; its percentile rose from 49 last year but remains below 62 in 2023–2024. For context, in 2024–2025 the student-teacher ratios were 17.6 at Pacheco and 20.7 at Prairie, and free/reduced lunch eligible rates were 60% and 58%, respectively. Chronic absenteeism in 2025–2026 was 15% at Pacheco and 13% at Prairie, below the state’s 18% at both schools.
