Summary:

Oroville Union High includes three schools serving grades 9–12: Las Plumas High, Oroville High, and Prospect High (Continuation); together they enroll 2,225 students. The clearest districtwide takeaway is that average proficiency trailed state benchmarks in all three subjects in 2025–2026, with the largest gap in math at 26 percentage points.

Oroville High was the strongest of the three on the reported tests, leading in ELA at 49%, math at 22%, and science at 35%. Its scores were about level with the state in ELA, 1 point below in science, and 16 points below in math. It led Las Plumas by 15 points in ELA, 7 in math, and 13 in science; Prospect was lowest in all three, at 14%, 0%, and 2%. Las Plumas ranked between the other schools in each subject, though its results were also below state benchmarks.

Results moved in different directions from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: Oroville improved by 2 points in ELA, 7 in math, and 6 in science, while Prospect fell by 11, 5, and 2 points, respectively. Las Plumas gained 1 point in ELA and math but dropped 5 in science. SchoolDigger’s statewide rankings also show Oroville rising from the 39th to the 52nd percentile, while Las Plumas fell from the 48th to the 31st; Prospect moved from the 2nd to the 5th percentile, after reaching the 18th percentile in 2024–2025. In 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligibility was 75% at Las Plumas, 82% at Oroville, and 90% at Prospect; student–teacher ratios were 19.3, 19.5, and 10.3, respectively. These figures are context, not explanations for results, and Prospect’s continuation-school setting makes direct comparisons with the two larger high schools less straightforward.
