Elementary Schools in Ojai Unified

The three elementary schools in Ojai Unified serve kindergarten through grade 6 at Mira Monte Elementary and Topa Topa Elementary, while Meiners Oaks Early Education serves kindergarten only. In 2025–26, the two K–6 schools’ average proficiency was 41% in ELA, 28% in math, and 26% in science, compared with statewide results of 49%, 38%, and 36%. The main takeaway is that both tested schools fell below the state in every subject, with math the widest average gap, narrowly.

Topa Topa led the all-grades results, while Mira Monte had the lower score in each subject. Topa scored 45% in ELA and 31% in science, leading Mira Monte by 8 and 10 percentage points; in math, the schools were nearly tied at 28.5% and 28.1%. The grade-level picture has exceptions: Mira Monte led in grade 3 and grade 6 math, while Topa Topa led in grades 4 and 5 math. Topa also had higher ELA results in grades 3, 4, and 6, and the schools tied in grade 5.

Recent results favor Topa Topa’s steadier direction: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, its ELA rose 1 point and science rose 5, while math fell 1; Mira Monte declined 5 points in ELA, 8 in math, and 18 in science. SchoolDigger ranked Mira Monte at the 53rd percentile in 2024–25 and the 33rd in 2025–26, while Topa Topa stayed at the 45th percentile. The schools reported similar shares of students free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–25: 55% at Mira Monte and 54% at Topa Topa. Meiners Oaks reported 37% that year, but has no test results here, so its performance cannot be compared with the K–6 schools.
