Summary:
Los Molinos Unified has three schools serving kindergarten through grade 12: Los Molinos Elementary (K–8), Los Molinos High (grades 9–12), and Vina Elementary (grades 1–8), with 549 students combined and no separate middle school. Because the schools serve different grade spans, all-grades comparisons are broad summaries. The clearest overall finding is that results vary considerably by school and subject, while the three-school average is below the state in ELA, math, and science.
In 2025–2026, Los Molinos High led all-grades ELA at 62% and science at 38%; its ELA result was 13 percentage points above the state, while science was 2 points above. Vina Elementary led math at 46%, 8 points above the state, and its ELA result of about 49% was virtually equal to the state. Los Molinos Elementary was lowest in ELA (29%) and math (22%), 20 and 17 points below the state, respectively. A shared-grade comparison is also striking: in sixth-grade math, Vina scored 62% and Los Molinos Elementary 3%, a 58-point gap.
From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the schools’ average ELA result rose 3 points and science rose 4; their gaps to the state narrowed by 2 points and 1 point, respectively. Math rose 1 point on average, but its gap to the state widened slightly. SchoolDigger’s rankings also diverged: Los Molinos High rose from the 57th to the 72nd percentile and from 3 to 4 stars, while Los Molinos Elementary fell from the 27th to the 18th percentile and Vina from the 79th to the 55th. For 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible was reported at 81% at Los Molinos Elementary, 58% at Los Molinos High, and 53% at Vina; these figures describe school context, not causes of results. Los Molinos High also had the lowest student-teacher ratio, 16.4, but chronic absenteeism was 22%, above the state’s 18%; Vina’s was 11%.
