The average elementary school was closest to the state in math and furthest behind in ELA, but school results vary substantially: the elementary-school spread reached 19 points in science.
The strongest school depends on the subject: Buford Elementary led elementary ELA with 47%, while Jefferson Elementary led math with 42% and science with 39%. Jefferson’s math and science results were about 4 points above state results. Dolores Huerta Elementary was lowest among the elementary schools in all three subjects: 30% in ELA, 31% in math, and 20% in science. Lennox Middle, considered separately, scored 43% in ELA, 26% in math, and 20% in science—about 7, 12, and 16 points below the state, respectively.
Elementary science is the clearest area of progress: the average rose by 9 points from 2024–25 to 2025–26, narrowing the gap with the state from 10 points to 5. Average ELA and math each fell by about 1 point, while state results rose, so the gaps widened. Felton Elementary improved in all three subjects, including a 21-point science gain; meanwhile, Buford math fell 9 points and Huerta ELA fell 6. SchoolDigger’s ranking percentile rose 7 points for Felton over three years, while it fell 11 for Huerta and 9 for Buford. All schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible measures for 2024–25, ranging from 90% at Felton to 96% at Huerta; these figures are context, not a simple guide to results.
