Summary:

Latrobe has two small schools serving kindergarten through eighth grade: Latrobe Elementary serves K–3 and enrolls 55 students, while Miller’s Hill serves grades 4–8 and enrolls 77. The most important finding is that Miller’s Hill is well above state proficiency rates in all three reported subjects in 2025–26, while current-year results for Latrobe Elementary are unavailable.

Miller’s Hill stands out in the latest results: proficiency was 72% in ELA, 58% in math and 62% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%—advantages of 23, 19 and 26 percentage points. Its strongest reported grade result was seventh-grade ELA at 100%, 49 points above the state; its narrowest lead was fourth-grade math, at 44% versus 42%, a 2-point advantage. Latrobe Elementary also exceeded state rates in its 2024–25 results: 69% in ELA and 69% in math, ahead by 20 and 32 points. Because the schools serve different grades and Latrobe Elementary’s 2025–26 results are suppressed, the figures do not support a current-year head-to-head ranking.

Miller’s Hill remains strong, but its margins over the state narrowed from 2024–25 to 2025–26 by 8 points in ELA, 14 in math and 11 in science; its own proficiency rates fell by 8, 13 and 8 points, respectively. SchoolDigger ranked it 255th of 2,703 schools in 2025–26, in the 91st percentile with five stars, after a rank of 81st and 97th percentile in 2024–25. Chronic absenteeism was 9% at Miller’s Hill and 16% at Latrobe Elementary in 2025–26, compared with 12% districtwide and 18% statewide. In 2024–25, the schools’ student-teacher ratios were 15.4 and 13.7, respectively; their free/reduced lunch eligible rates were 27% and 29%.
